National Health Center Week is August 8th – 14th.

It’s National Health Center Week! Health centers “are community-based health care providers that receive funds from the HRSA Health Center Program to provide primary care services in underserved areas. They must meet a stringent set of requirements, including providing care on a sliding fee scale based on ability to pay and operating under a governing board that includes patients”. This week serves as “an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.” In honor of this special week, we’d like to take the time to highlight two of our amazing Duval Safety Net Collaborative partner clinics, Agape Family Health and Sulzbacher – both of which are Federally Qualified Health Centers.

Agape Family Health is local health center whose mission is: creating “Accessible Care for All – From Birth Through Adulthood”. They offer various services like primary care for children and adults, women’s health, behavioral health, vision, on-site pharmacy, and DOT physical exams. They also operate a family health mobile unit that offers sick visits, health screenings, vaccinations, sports and school physicals, and wellness checkups. At Agape, “no individual or family will be turned away for inability to pay” – one of the many things that makes them an amazing partner clinic. They have multiple locations throughout Jacksonville, increasing their accessibility both geographically and with number of available appointments. If you’re interested learning more about Agape Family Health, visit their website at Agape Family Health or give them a call at 904-760-4904.

Sulzbacher is another local health center that we partner with. Their mission “is to empower homeless and at-risk women, children, and men through health, housing, and income services thereby restoring hope and self-sufficiency”. Their services are vast. As far as healthcare goes, Sulzbacher offers comprehensive healthcare for adults and children. This includes primary care, behavioral health, dental, vision, and medical respite programs. They also offer many services for those experiencing housing insecurity. Like Agape, they will not turn away anyone based on their ability to pay. One of the many things that makes them a great clinic. They have two primary locations, Downtown and at the Beaches. If you’re interested learning more about Sulzbacher, visit their website at Sulzbacher Jax or give them a call at 904-359-0457.
