Happy Earth Day! Keeping the Earth healthy requires starting from within. We must keep ourselves healthy before we can focus on the health of those, and the Earth, around us. One way we’re promoting keeping ourselves healthy is by keeping up to date with vaccines.
It’s flu season and the COVID-19 pandemic is still upon us. Getting vaccinated not only protects us, it protects those around us. “Because the vaccine reduces your likelihood to pass the virus to others, getting a vaccine can help protect people around you” – and the more time we have in good health, the more time we have to dedicate to protecting the Earth!
Did you know that you have access to free COVID-19 resources through Vax904? They have “everything you need to know, including information about where you can get vaccinated, boosted and tested in” the Duval area.
In honor of Earth Day, here’s some of our favorite local organizations that are helping to save this planet that we call home:
- The St. John’s River Keeper helps to protect and advocate for the St. John’s River – Jacksonville’s primary commercial and recreational waterway.
- The Eastside Environmental Council works to “provide an empowered, educated, healthier, and economically sustainable Urban Core Community for the citizens of East Jacksonville by the implementation of environmental studies, collaborative focus groups, and strategic planning”.
- Beaches Go Green “provides awareness and education around the waste that we produce and how it affects our planet” by engaging our community with free environmental education.
- Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol “is making the world a better place for sea turtles on Jacksonville’s beaches”. Fun fact! One of our Patient Health Advocates, Kelsey McKenna volunteers with them regularly.
Protect yourself, protect your community, and protect your home – the Earth.
